Business Ideas For Innovators

by Jose DeJesus MD, MBA

Over the last 20 years, the business world has become more and more competitive. Business owners are on the verge of breaking into their own smart idea to beat the competition. When starting a small business, the owners who hope to be in business for a year, must constantly look to many consultant services for guidance. These services can be costly, especially at the beginning which may not have the resources to fund such luxuries.

Innovative business ideas are not the sole intellectual property of consultants, however. Innovative ideas are available in the most mundane places for business owners who are willing to look for them. The ever-changing digital world provides myriad opportunities to cultivate a successful business model.

Marketing is the principal area for innovation. If a new marketing idea is creative and "pushes the envelope" it will add more value to a business model, particularly for a small business. An innovative idea for a small business can make all the difference between achieving success or succumbing to failure.

You may have the best product, the most attentive customer service, and the best-run back office in the world, but without effective marketing and advertising, no one will ever know about your product. Marketing campaigns need to be tailored for their audience, especially if the product is made for a niche market instead of the mass market. The internet is a great boon to such marketers.

Entrepreneurs are in search of new business ideas from many sources, not just in marketing. One area for business owners to consider is using new methods for locating and selecting new employee hires. If an owner expands their search to a wider applicant pool, they may find a superior quality employee.

In all of these areas, it is important for people starting a small business to be open to innovative ideas that create an advantage in a competitive marketplace. The greatest threat to a startup business is a closed-minded attitude toward new business ideas.
