Commercial Door Locks Protecting Your Business

by Rex Freiberger

You don't really ever think about the locks that are on the doors of companies that you visit all the time. The only time you think about them is when the store is closed or when a child locks the door to "see what would happen." This is when people start thinking about how heavy duty commercial locks are at most stores and companies.

Commercial door locks are known to be tamper-proof. They are very hard to break. This is why a lot of burglaries happen in the day time or when people are present. Another time break ins happen is at night when glass in a door or window is broken.

If someone wants to rob you, they will do almost anything to get around your business' commercial door locks. Some criminals have even driven stolen cars into buildings to rob a place. They believe this is easier than trying to pick good commercial door locks.

There are many types of installable commercial doors locks that can be used to keep a business safe. Many smaller businesses use locks contained in the doorknobs or handles of the door much like at a residential property. However, these are much more tamper proof. There are also more complicated systems that make the doors lock into the ground and ceiling with a special bar. This makes pushing a locked door like trying to push a brick wall.

Many commercial door locks these days are controlled by changeable combinations. This is a way to cut down on the costs of having the locks changed when an employee loses or does not return a key. This also allows some locking systems to be connected to the business's burglar alarm, so that opening the door any way other than with the correct code triggers an alarm.

Maintaining proper control of the keys to a business organization's commercial door locks is paramount to the company's security. Most often, prior employees or their family members the individuals who would be tempted to use a key to the detriment of the business. For this reason, whenever an employee resigns or is terminated, the importance of ensuring that the keys to the business's commercial locks are returned is essential for company security.

Numerous varieties of door locks can be installed to protect a company's assets. Small firms may utilize only basic doorknobs with locks embedded in them, as people do in their homes. To ensure the safety and security of your business, it is imperative that you keep track of keys to your commercial door locks. Family members of current employees, and former employees are the ones that are most likely to take their old keys and use them inappropriately. No matter the reason for an employee's departure, it is absolutely critical that they return their set of keys to the commercial locks at your establishment.
