Simple Things To Watch For In A Web Host

by Dan Farrell

To find a web host that's good should be at the top of the list in running your online business. Otherwise you may end up having a lot of downtime on your site. Don't sign a contract with a web hosting company until you do some research. When you are looking for a cheap web host, you will find there are a number of companies with different types of services.

Before you decide which hosting company you will use, review them alongside these points:

Reliable: it is most important that your host is reliable. You cannot afford to have downtime. You will lose credibility thus lose sales. Review the services of the web host you are looking into, and do so thoroughly before signing a contract with them. Determine their reliability by finding out what sort of servers they employ. If there are any testimonials look at them and see that they are authentic.

Good customer support: If you have problems technically at any time, you need to know you have excellent support from your web hosting service.

Monthly contract: Read your contract and ensure you have a monthly contract and not one for six months or a year. And they won't have a penalty for canceling.

Set up fee: You should not have to pay any set up fees. Good hosting companies will not be charging you this. They appreciate your business.

Backing up files: Does your new host back up files and how often? It is very important to back up files and good if your host does this as well.

FTP access: This is a useful feature that some web hosts offer. This will allow you to upload your site whenever you have any changes or additions to your website.

A good number of email addresses: Ensure the host you pick has enough email addresses for your business. You may need many or just a few, but your host should be able to supply you with what you need.

Bandwidth (traffic) allowed: If your host has 5GB of bandwidth, this should work for you. You should know how much you will be provided with.

Extra services: Make sure there are no hidden costs with extra services that you aren't aware of in the main ad for the host. Check with them about all costs.

Price: Prices are very different from host to host, and the available options can also vary. You may pay anywhere from $5.95-$19.95. It isn't always bad to go cheap. Research these points with care. You can get very good reliability and support from Reseller Zoom (who I use It isn't always a bad sign to only be charged a low fee. It depends what you need.

Cpanel: is a useful feature, and simple to use. This will let you manage your web hosting from one place and has features like web stats and web mail. Make sure your host has a fast connection: Make sure you will have a host with a fast connection or your visitors who only have dial-up will have trouble. If your host is fast your visitors will have optimum speed even if they are connecting from dial up. This will make a lot of difference to the speed your website loads for them to view.

Being aware of the points made here, you can make the right decision on the right web hosting company for your needs.
