Health Is Our Greatest Asset
The most significant factor in this life is our health and well being and we should do all that we can to preserve it. Surely other things are important also, we all share the need for an liberal supply of income to live in the world, we require love and shelter in order to maintain a healthy state of being, but in one author's thinking, nothing is more important than our health and well being. I'll not make such statements without a bit more insight.
While my thoughts belong to me, they do have some substance and are not simply ramblings. I have (or had) a good friend whose center of attention in his journey the acquiring of money, this certainly did not make him a bad person, quite the opposite, more than once he would come to me in times of need desiring to help, today he has departed this earth, he lost his health and shortly his life. This is not what happens everyday and by no means do I want to paint this piece with despair, rather insights for life.
This is not a discussion for spiritual themes, yet in my heartI believe without a doubt that the spirit does not end and this life is asimply a rehearsal for the next; having said that I plan to live my journey 110%, enjoying, breathing in every molecue of the atmosphere, feeling the excitement of the wind in my face and the brilliance of a colorful sunset. When my journey on planet earth if done, I'll walk unafraid through the veil, but until then, I will continue to journey courageously across this earth and I can only do this with good health.
One skeptic pondered! 'Why is health more important than wealth?'
Very simply, when we have our health we can go all-out, we can earn a living, we can generate resumes, go on job interviews, follow our dreams, tackle new endeavors, exceed our dreams, but only when we possess the concentration and well being to do so. As I sit now pondering this article, I'm looking across the river, it is peaceful and serene and my mind is unburdened and can meander and soar, but my mind is fueled by my energy and my energy by proper nutrition, exercise and a upbeat take on my journey; yet again, all this happens because of good health.
Each night as I start to close my eyes, I think helpful thoughts, I observe deep breathing, I communicate with God (yes I believe He exists), and express thanks for my strength, but I do not take it for granted, I work to keep it that way. Each day (and I'm not an early riser, tending to write late into the night) I'll perform limbering movements and lite aerobics to speed up my heart rate. I'm lucky, I do have good genetics, my mother lived to be 94 and my grandmother nearly the same, I learned these practices from them and I do not take these practices, nor my health for granted.
I guess I'm somewhat on a soapbox, having lost two friends; two friends I thought the world of, but two friends who have now departed from this plane of existence. I do not mourn for them; knowing they now soar in the stars, but I miss talking and sharing their company and wish they were still here with me.
Is there a moral to any of this..., it is simply to be thankful for the life given you and to cherish it. While I can give you no crystal-clear clue as to what happens when we leave this life, I can offer this suggestion.
Live your life to the fullest, and appreciate every breath that you breathe.
